Lady Antebellum recently changed their name to Lady A, in response to the BLM movement citing the name's ties to slavery. Within weeks, they have chosen to sue the REAL Lady A, a black performer, who has built her livelihood under this name for over 20 years. Suing a black performer further oppresses black voices and goes against the very purpose of their initial name change.

The answer is simple: transfer ownership of the trademarked name to Lady A, drop the lawsuit against her and choose a new name. The two artists cannot coexist under one name. We must put pressure on the band and their legal team to choose morality and show proof of support for black voices through ACTION, not meaningless words.

Please don't be fooled by those who claim Lady A is attempting to extort money! The payout is only being asked for IF they choose to continue under the name Lady A, so Anita White can rebrand under a new name and will then donate 50% to nonprofits who truly advocate for black voices. Transferring ownership of the trademarked name will save their precious money (which they seem to value over black voices) and will leave them more to donate to the Equal Justice Initiative as they claimed they would.
