Why this petition matters

Started by NJ Botanical Garden

The NJBG Association is asking you to help getting the state to repair roads.

NJBG is a natural preserve of 96 acres of gardens surrounded by over 1,000 acres of meadows and woodlands. The gardens contain approximately 5,000 species and varieties of trees, shrubs and flowers, with a variety of walks and hikes for visitors.  Serving the state of New Jersey, NJBG has been a haven to visitors, specially through the pandemic of 2020. Unlike most gardens, including the New York and Brooklyn Botanical gardens, the New Jersey State Botanical Garden charges no admission. The garden is available free of charge for the enjoyment of all residents and visitors, 365 days a year.

But the roads to, and through, NJBG are in urgent need of repair as they have deteriorated to the point of hazard to the 150,000 annual visitors to the gardens.

Funding from the State is very limited, and the funding that is currently available is allocated to the gardens and some of the buildings. With the current State budget , the Botanical Gardens is not expecting any significant increase in State funding. We would like you to help us petition our state legislators to repair and maintain the roads.

Please sign this petition to show your support for the New Jersey Botanical Garden road repair and maintenance. You need to do nothing else except forward the petition to your family and friends!

This petition is organized by The NJBG Association, a volunteer, non-profit 501c3 organization that serves the New Jersey Botanical Gardens and the public, with historical preservation, botanical rejuvenation, educational programs and special events (tours, programs, concerts, etc.). You can learn more about us at njbg.org.
