Expand MPIPHP coverage to include all evidence-based therapies for Spectrum Disorders
Expand MPIPHP coverage to include all evidence-based therapies for Spectrum Disorders
Why this petition matters
MPIPHP is a self-funded and collectively bargained health plan. Many of the critical services needed by children of members are not covered by MPIPHP. In 2020, a resolution to research health insurance inclusion of Autism Spectrum Disorder screening, diagnosis, treatment, and intervention was presented at the IATSE District 2 Convention by Local 839 and was adopted with full support. MPIPHP’s board of directors decides what services to cover and may change its coverage based on pressure from the membership. The Affordable Care Act requires publicly funded American medical plans to include comprehensive Autism coverage, including unlimited Physical, Speech, and Occupational Therapy, prescribed evidence-based treatments (such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy), and Family Training. This is a minimum that our health care coverage should reach.
By signing this petition, you are making it known that you, as an IATSE member, would support changing MPIPHP coverage to include all evidence-based therapies for Spectrum Disorders. This petition will be presented directly to District 2 to contribute to the evidence that this coverage is supported by the membership. This petition will also be presented to MPIPHP to show support for changing current coverage.
Petition presented by the IATSE Hollywood Women’s Committees.
