Re-Imagine Keats Way
Re-Imagine Keats Way
Why this petition matters
Keats Way running through the Upper Beechwood neighbourhoods is an absolutely massive road, with a large amount of unused pavement in the middle. This results in a barren streetscape for pedestrians walking just a few feet from the road, and offers only paint as protection for cyclists using this street. The street is so wide that pedestrian islands litter the road, despite it only having two lanes of traffic.
We request that city council shrink the road, without reducing the number of traffic lanes (or their width!). Move the bike lanes off the road, and expand the sidewalk. All of this can be accomplished within the existing footprint of the street & sidewalks!
Making this road a pleasure for pedestrians and cyclists would serve as a great connector of the numerous pedestrian & cycle paths criss-crossing the neighbourhoods. And bring these neighbours a viable way of traveling to Waterloo Park and the Uptown Core without resorting to their vehicles.
