Why this petition matters

Started by Sue Forkin

The volume of traffic and speed on Burntwood Lane has increased over recent years seriously affecting the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and motorists

We would like to see:
- Reduced speed limit to 20mph
- Fully enforced parking regulations around the school and Springfield construction site with clear signage
- Wider pavements for pedestrian safety and to help maintain COVID-19 social distancing

There have been a number of serious accidents on the road over the past few years. Whilst there is a 20mph speed limit on most roads in Wandsworth the speed limit on Burntwood Lane remains at 30mph.
The road is a residential road with hundreds of residents and a large school at Burntwood with nearly 2000 pupils.

In addition, the number of large vehicles has increased due to other local roads banning these vehicles and a large construction site at Springfield which is accessed from the road - increasing the noise, traffic and pollution on the road. The vehicles are not only dangerous but also extremely close to pedestrians who are trying to walk safely on a narrow pavement.

The parking along the road is also adding to the problem with large lorries often parked around the construction entrance and cars illegally parked around the school in the cycle lane at pickup time.
