CCPS Safely Re-Open Carroll Schools
CCPS Safely Re-Open Carroll Schools
Why this petition matters
“Virtual education is virtually no education at all.”
At the July 29th Carroll County Board of Education meeting, it was unanimously decided to begin the 20-21 school year virtually. It was a unanimously bad decision by the Board of Education that ignored its own survey results from parents and students to bow to the bullying of the unions to ensure schools are kept virtual. While the ability to learn will be greatly diminished, one thing that has not been cut is the CCPS budget. While CCPS continues to be fully funded, our children will be dealing with the long lasting, if not permanent, devastation of virtual education.
We are asking the Board of Education to reject the bullying of the unions, reverse their recent decision and take steps to adopt some hybrid approach that will safely reopen schools for real classroom education. .
We are asking that those who believe education is too important to be squandered, to sign this petition:
Petition
"As the parent of a student in Carroll County Public Schools, I strongly disagree with the Board of Education decision to provide only virtual learning for the coming school year. I urge that the following steps be taken:
1. The Board must reverse the decision to keep schools closed providing only virtual education and immediately implement a hybrid plan to safely migrate more student education back to the classroom
2. The Board must require that all teaching, even virtual learning, is done from the classroom in the school, with all paid school personnel reporting to the school.
3. The Board must commit to a plan that brings all learning back to the classroom when the State of Maryland enters Phase III
If the Board of Education does not take such actions by August 31, 2020, I will strongly consider registering my student for home schooling or private school, and consider removing him or her from the public school rolls prior to the start of the school year.
