Take the #StopSingleUse Pledge to Reduce Single-Use Plastic
Why this petition matters
We’ll go first: We’re Credo Beauty, the planet’s largest clean beauty retailer, and we’re kicking off the #StopSingleUse Pledge by swapping out all products on our shelves that are used once and thrown away — sheet masks, wipes, pads, sample packets, and other single-use items — this June 2021. And we'll never bring them back.
As a leader in the clean beauty space, we knew our #StopSingleUse Pledge needed to be big, because the amount of single use stuff people make, sell and give away— including in our industry— is really, really big. About 800 billion single-use packets are created across all industries, 122 billion (used for sampling) in beauty. None of them are recyclable.
Think about how many times a day you use, or you are offered, single-use items like:
o Water bottles
o Coffee cups
o Coffee pods for single-cup machines
o Plastic bags
o Plastic utensils
o Plastic straws
o Sample and condiment packets
o Takeout containers
o Energy shots
o Plastic tampon applicators
Most of these items are used for minutes, or even seconds, yet they outlive us. Our oceans are taking a huge hit: 40% of the 17.6 billion pounds of plastic that ends up in the ocean is made up of single-use items.
For the planet’s sake, we can’t afford to take part in that any longer: The way we create and consume products, especially one-and-done plastics, must change. We believe it can, even one swap at a time.
Now it's your turn. As a first step, sign your name to take the #StopSingleUse Pledge. Then follow us @credobeauty for simple ways to reduce single-use plastics in your routine.
