Help us bring LOCAL ENERGY CHOICE to the Hudson Valley!
Why this petition matters
Help us bring LOCAL ENERGY CHOICE to Hudson Valley communities for CLEANER, CHEAPER, and more LOCAL energy, decided by the municipality (instead of the state)!
What is a Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) program?
Based on NYS regulation, a Community Choice Aggregation program is an energy procurement program that enables cities, towns, and villages to buy energy on behalf of their residents and businesses, aggregating the buying power of individual customers within a defined jurisdiction.
With CCA, the default supplier is chosen by the local government as a result of a formal procurement process where the best possible rate is achieved: without a CCA in place, the electric utility is the default supplier. This results in greater buying power that can leverage cash savings to the customers in those communities.
Under a CCA program, the municipality works with the Program Administrator to identify Program priorities and solicit proposals from qualified energy supply companies on behalf of their residents and small businesses.
Hudson Valley Community Power is a partnership between communities in the Hudson Valley who team with JouleCommunity (as Program Administrator) and Hudson Valley Energy (as Local Organizer), to explore the potential of participating in a CCA program in the Hudson Valley.
