Texas Education Agency has issued its guidance.

We want our students to be safe and be offered a chance at an equitable education. We want our online distance learning to be "live" (aka synchronous) not recorded. Our students need the social component even if it's via a live video lesson.

These times are difficult for all to say the least. We want our students STAAR tests waived this year. Our students are trying to be resilient and taking the STAAR will be added stress on them. If this means that the school district must seek a waiver or other action, then do so. As our trusted school district, we look to you to stand up for our students where parents don't know how or can't. Otherwise we will be pressured to contemplate boycotting this antiquated test come next semester.

Our teachers who have to find a way to make all these new changes happen deserve hazard pay. This ensures that sick teachers and frontline workers, such as cafeteria staff and custodians, stay home without fear of not being able to cover their living expenses. It is essential to keep the schools open and minimize our students exposure.

We ask that you incorporate the above mentioned items when planning for the upcoming school year.
