Stop the City of Edmonton from implementing parking fees for city parks and attractions.
Why this petition matters
The City of Edmonton has decided it will begin implementing paid parking for a number of river valley parks and city attractions, come spring 2022.

This move by the city is clearly a petty money grab. The biggest problem with this is that by forcing people to pay to park just to enjoy our nature, or a family attraction, is only making these places less inclusive and less accessible. That is not the way to go.
The very small amount of revenue the city will gain from this new plan is likely to be way less than what it will cost the city to incorporate and manage a paid parking structure in these parks and at these attractions.
There is also the fact that this plan will price out many families and people from visiting these already too expensive attractions. This is likely going to lead to less patronage of these attractions, causing harm to their already frail revenue streams as well. Has the city thought this all the way through? I wouldn't count on it.
