Mountsorrel Primary School needs a Crossing Patrol Person NOW
Why this petition matters
Christ Church and St Peter's Primary School in Mountsorrel needs a Crossing Patrol, or Lollipop person, NOW before a child gets seriously injured. But Leicestershire County Council wont recruit!
Leicestershire County Council say they won't employ anyone to be the 'Lollipop person' because they have a cost-cutting recruitment freeze. - We say this is too important, we need a crossing patrol NOW
They say the road is safe - We say children are at risk!
The crossing point outside of Mountsorrel Primary school is unprotected and unsafe. It is too close to the road bend at the top of The Green which you can’t see round, there can be buses coming from either direction, and with many cars parked so close to the crossing (some even parking on the yellow lines), it can be hard to see what’s coming, especially if you are too short to see over the cars. Having a crossing patrol person there will significantly increase safety for all children and carers and will give parents the confidence to allow older children some independence and let them walk to school by themselves.
We call upon Leicestershire County Council to lift their recruitment freeze for this post BEFORE A CHILD IS SERIOUSLY INJURED. Please sign and share our petition, let's keep our children safe!
