In Kent we're blessed to have some of the best connections in the country on road or rail.
But although the high speed train network has revolutionised travel in the county, we still fall way behind the London Underground in terms of accessibility.

This got us thinking: imagine if the London Underground did run in Kent as the 'Kentish Line'. 

The idea isn't as farcical as it sounds, after all thousands of commuters travel up to London every day and we're sure Londoners would appreciate being directly connected to the garden of England. So, ignoring the fact that any journey on the service would involve spending hours in a dark, rattling tube these are the three Kent places we think would most benefit from the service.

Stop 1  Dartford

The first stop on the 'Kentish Line' would be Dartford, which has a population of 109,709 people.
Dartford is one of the closest places to London in Kent so stopping there just makes sense.
Many people in the town work in the capital and vice versa, so both would benefit from the new link.

The line would also improve standard of health in the town.
Dartford has long been synonymous with the dirty and busy toll bridge so building a new low emission underground link would alleviate congestion.
The more we think about this, the more it makes sense - Dartford has always basically been part of London, it's time to make it happen.

Stop 2: Maidstone

The next stop on the 'Kentish Line' would be the county town of Maidstone.
For too long, our proud capital has been hampered by its two small train stations which offer comically long connection times to London.
The journey is over an hour, that's right over an hour.
Clearly something needs to be done, and that something is a large underground route cutting through the tranquil countryside surrounding the town.
It's a small price to pay for efficiency, and with a new transport hub we could finally open up Maidstone to the rest of the South East.
Our county town has a lot to be proud of, so let's start shouting about it.

Stop 3: Canterbury

The final stop on the 'Kentish Line' (at least in its first stage) should be Canterbury, Kent's only city.
"What!",  I hear you cry, "Canterbury already has very good transport links and how would the underground line stretch that far!?"
Yes, this is all true but hear me out.
Canterbury may not be the county town of Kent but it is our only city and has always served as something of a spiritual capital.
Every year millions of tourists descend on its cobbled streets to visit its historical sites and quite frankly the cities infrastructure can't cope.
The trains are packed, the roads are clogged and dirty and you can't get a parking space to save your life.
This bold transport link will solve all those problems and because it's underground we won't have to knock down any listed buildings to install it.
This is surely common sense no?
