After publicly expressing its opposition to the Southern Reliability Link (SRL) pipeline, Burlington County issued a road occupancy permit to New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) to build the pipeline on county roads. Now we are calling on the Freeholder Board to HALT the construction before their constituents are subject to the health and safety risks of a high pressure fracked gas pipeline!

The SRL should be stopped because:

1. The pipeline isn't needed. An independent report about the SRL demonstrated that it is unnecessary to provide reliable gas service to customers.

2. The pipeline cuts through the Pinelands National Reserve. This protected area is home to some of the most rare plants and animals in the world, and sits on top of the pristine 17 trillion gallon Kirkwood Cohansey aquifer. It should be protected!

3. The pipeline violates the Pinelands Comprehensive Management Plan, the rules that govern the Pinelands. 

4. The pipeline will cost $220 million - 100% of which will be paid by NJNG customers! The only people who win are the shareholders of the company. 

Residents, non-profits and community organizations have filed lawsuits against NJNG which are likely to be successful in court. But NJNG is trying to make the pipeline a done deal before the cases are even heard.

Tell the Burlington County Freeholders to let these cases be argued and decided in the courts - stop the SRL construction today!
