The Sacramento City Unified School District is unprepared to combat with the 2019 Coronavirus outbreak and the best measure is to suspend school until the virus is no longer a threat. The coronavirus virus has long been a threat before March of 2020 yet the district has failed to provide any noticeable measures to combat the outbreak. There has been student reports in high schools that many bathrooms lack hand soap and towels and that teachers have to personally provide hand sanitizer and tissues. Many teachers even resort to asking students to bring supplies such as tissues in exchange for extra credit. There is also no nurses in the majority of SCUSD schools. Part of the contract that high officials signed during the 2019 Sacramento teacher strikes stated that nurses would be put back into schools. It has been almost a year since that contract was signed and there is still no nurses to be seen. This means that the most credible people with medical background on a campus may be the science teachers. SCUSD has shown that they are incapable of helping with combating the spread and should suspend school until things look better.
