On December 3, 2019 Qlik announced that their Qlik Sense Desktop product that will cease to be free.

From the Qlik Community post: "To adapt to changing customer preferences and in alignment with enterprise cloud vendors industry practice, Qlik is moving away from a ‘freemium’ model for both its cloud and desktop versions of Qlik Sense, in favor of a time limited trial.  This means that both Qlik Sense Cloud Basic and Qlik Sense Desktop will cease to be free. It is important to note that Qlik Sense Desktop will remain a supported part of our Qlik Sense product family."

Qlik Sense Desktop has been free since it launched years ago and has been the on-ramp for many individuals to explore Qlik's capabilities in analytics and data visualization. These individuals include students, children, non-profits, and others that cannot afford to purchase Qlik Sense Enterprise or Cloud editions. Additionally, Qlik Sense Desktop has been a launchpad for developers and independent consultants to build projects, contribute extensions to Qlik Branch, and to showcase their skills to clients - and future customers of Qlik's.

Without a free edition of Qlik Sense, we - the greater Qlik Community - believe that countless individuals and organizations will forgo using Qlik and choose one of many other BI tools available for their analytics needs. This will impact not only individuals growth and skills in Qlik technologies, but also will harm the growth of Qlik's user-base and developer community. Qlik's efforts to increase data literacy for all is also going to affected negatively by this move.

We're asking Qlik and CEO Mike Capone to consider another path and continue to provide Qlik Sense to individuals for free. Please sign the petition today!
