I started this petition to show the outpouring support the residents of Flintstone, Rossville, and Chickamauga as well as other small towns around Chattanooga, TN have for the expansion of EPB Fiber Optic Internet into these areas. Xfinity and AT&T are consistently taking advantage of rural residents south of Chattanooga because they know that residents have no other internet options. All other internet providers do not service most addresses in this area besides Xfinity. I believe this to be a violation of the Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890 which prohibits monopolies or unreasonable combinations of companies to restrict or in any way control interstate commerce.

On April 10, 2017 Tennessee Legislature passed a bill called the Tennessee Broadband Accessibility Act (HB0529), allowing Comcast and AT&T to expand operations and offer internet service to citizens in rural areas in Tennessee. This bill is giving 45 million dollars in tax breaks to Comcast and AT&T for the expansion. EPB Fiber Optics has been trying to expand at NO COST to us consumers. EPB wants to use its own money to get much faster internet to more areas.

If you live in a rural area you know how hard it is to get internet. You also know how expensive and unreliable satellite internet is. Please ask your friends about EPB. If you do not have EPB, you can look online and see that they have amazing customer service and fair prices, plus they are based in Chattanooga. EPB is not an outside corporation that uses a monopoly to take advantage of people, they actually care for their customers. Even if you already have EPB, sign our petition so we can show our local area leaders how much our residents want EPB!
