Why this petition matters

Started by Nathaniel Lee

The Marshall 8100 hybrid amplifier with one preamp tube and a solid state power section was produced during the 1990s.  It was used by many bands in the hard rock and metal world, and is still highly respected today by players in those genres.

One of the most well known players of the 8100 was Chuck Schuldiner, founding member of the band Death, who used the amp on some of the most well known death metal albums of all time.  Chuck died of brain cancer in 2001, at the young age of 34, and left behind a legacy that is treasured by many.

Known as the godfather of death metal, Chuck utilized the Marshall 8100 as his amp of choice for the majority of his career.  Using it both in the studio and as his stage amp, he created tones and riffs that metal heads the world over still idolize and try to emulate.

The 8100 amplifier is critical to achieving these tones.

The 8100 amp has been out of production for a number of years and is getting harder and harder to find for those that love it.  If Marshall were to reissue the amp as a Chuck Schuldiner tribute, much like B.C. Rich reissued the Stealth guitar as a Chuck Schuldiner tribute model, it would be seen as a terrific gesture to a pioneering guitarist.  If they were to also promise to donate a certain amount of the proceeds to cancer research, Chuck's fans and the entire metal and rock community would see it as a tremendous act of good faith.

While Chuck is one of the most iconic users of the 8100, he was not the only artist known for using it.  The band Meshuggah used the 8200, the stereo version of the same amp, for some time.  Prong used the 8100 for several years.  Rob Zombie has used them in the past.  The list goes on.

Fans of the 8100 and it's sibling amps would love the opportunity to purchase a brand new copy of the amp.  If they knew some of the proceeds went to a worthy cause like researching cancer treatments, they would be even happier about it.

Please, Marshall, reissue the 8100 amplifier as a Chuck Schuldiner tribute and dedicate a portion of the proceeds to cancer research.  His fans, and yours, would be ever so grateful.
