Why this petition matters

Started by B L

Recently, Google released a statement which described changes to their privacy policy regarding Nest cameras and other products. These changes adversely affect the efficacy of use for Nest cameras and their ability to provide discreet security on private property. These cameras cost hundreds of dollars and now many owners are left with products that no longer fulfill their intended purchase use.

Please consider this petition to further encourage Google to revert their new changes to Nest cameras and give the product owner ultimate control over preference settings. Or allow current owners “Opt Out” rights and demand Google provide full refunds to those who do not agree with this unwanted change.

Below is Google’s notice about the change:

”As part of our commitment to privacy, we explained that you would always see a clear visual indicator when your Nest cameras are on and sending video and audio to Google. Starting today, we’re rolling out the following changesthat no longer allow you to turn off the visual indicators on Nest Cam, Dropcam and Nest Hello:

In Settings for all Nest Cameras and Nest Hello, now you can dim the light status.  When the camera is on, the status light will glow green, the light’s low enough to still be used in any room, even for Nest Cam IQs used in a nursery.
For Dropcam, when the camera is on, the status light will glow blue.
On Nest Cam, Dropcam, and Nest Hello, the status light will blink when the camera is live video is streamed from the Nest app.”
