Imagine your happily married and the two of you have 2 beautiful 4 year old twins together. You also get to be a bonus parent to 2 kids from your spouses previous relationship. Your spouse owes back child support so each tax year you have to file an Injured Spouse form just to try and keep some of your own part of taxes and your biological childrens credits. If you don't file this form it will all be offset to pay your spouses debt. It takes weeks and months! Now imagine a pandemic occurs you and your spouse lose their jobs, unemployment is backed up, but you get some kind of relief when the President announces a stimulus check! Your thinking Great I can get our kids food, pay rent and utilities maybe even our car note. You have hope its going to be okay. Until the stimulus check starts hitting accounts and you notice your entire stimulus check went to your spouses back child support! $1200 was yours and another $1000 was your own two kids 500 credits. Its all gone! Panic and fear sits in. Questioning everything "How am I going to keep the lights and water on, how am I going to buy food for my kids? Diapers, wipes, formula, medicines they need????"

This is how us Injured Spouse filers feel. The government just smacked us in the face like our own kids don't matter! By all means send my husbands 1200 to his child support but don't take away from my kids for my husbands debt. Its not their fault!!!! Its not fair we now still have to be full of fear while our spouses exes our getting multiple families stimulus checks.  Please consider getting this fixed so the money that is suppose to help people during a pandemic and losing jobs doesn't continue to get sent to a spouses debt taking away from the other spouse and kids.
