Why this petition matters

Started by Chloe Gilbert

I believe in the legislation of Pitbulls because anyone who truly knows dogs, also know that how the dog turns out is purely down to the breeders/temperament of breeders dogs and the upbringing of the dog. Pitbulls as well as any dog can be loving, caring, and good natured. If the breed become legal rules can be set in place, such as licenses must be held to own a pitbull, to get the license you must under-go assessments and monitorting for a course of months maybe years. There is absolutely no reasons pitbulls should be illegal, bad owners should be penalised.

Many dogs have aggresive traits, so why is it Pitbulls are only known for their bad side?

The Pit Bull terrier originated in England and was bred with the idea of fighting dogs in mind. They were used in blood sports like bull and bear baiting. Dogs having to fight animals 3x their size? Of course they'll learn to have a defensive side and of course this will pass on. This was made illegal in 1835. Too late. We are all aware of how things get carried through generations and either go one of two ways, they die down, or they grow.

Chihuahua's supposedly have a reputation for snapping at small children or unfamiliar faces who come across as 'threatening' due to their size. They are a completely different dog in every way possible. Yet still a family dog, often brought as a pet for children. How come it is fair to ban a dog due to how it was originally bred over 100 years ago, its size and 'harsh' face , but not ban a breed that is known for its bad temper around children???

Across England and Wales in 2017, the RSPCA recieved 1,037,435 calls on their 24 hour cruelty line, regarding the welfare of animals. This is NOT down to them, this is down to bad ownership.

Send this petition far and wide, make it noticed. Pitbulls need justice, too many poor pups have been destroyed unnecessarily.
