Building the high-speed rail line HS2 will destroy vast amounts of irreplaceable natural habitats, including over 100 ancient woodlands. We can’t let this happen.

A Wildlife Trust study shows that wildflower meadows and historic woodlands - including five sites of international importance - would be damaged or lost forever.

Already endangered species including the willow tit, white-clawed crayfish and dingy skipper butterfly would be at risk of localised extinction due to this £88 billion project.

But it can be avoided. That’s why we have to hold the Government to account and get them to urgently halt HS2s plans until they find an alternative. 

Our trees are vital for our climate, for our ecosystems, and our mental health . We can’t keep destroying trees, especially ancient woodlands where the trees can be hundreds of years old - they are part of our national heritage.
