CALL FOR SIGNATURES 

This spring will be marked by two political trials; criminalizing solidarity with people in exile and undocumented migrants.

Next April 22, in Gap, two solidarity citizens activists will be judged in the first instance for "supporting entry and circulation of irregular people on national territory"

They were arrested on 19 November 2020 while helping an afghan family on French territory.

Then, on May 27, appeal will be held for the "7 of Briançon" following the first instance decision pronounced on December 13, 2018.

The 7 were convicted to up to 4 months jail sentence and 8 months conditional for taking part in an antifascist demonstration on April 22, 2018.

This spontaneous demonstration aimed to protest against the french fascist organization “Génération identitaire” action on the day before at the Echelle Pass (Hautes Alpes) and the italian-french border militarization, always putting more lives at risk. 

For 5 years, French Government has been hunting down those it considers undesirable, carrying out daily illegal deportations in violation of its own laws.

For 5 years, thousands of solidarity workers and dozens of caregivers have been taking turns in the name of the principle of fraternity to assist exiles coming to our country in the hope for a little peace.

These are no longer isolated police blunders, but systematic acts of violence and serious fundamental rights violations attesting to systemic racism at work both at on French and European borders.

This French Government policy has  already led to the death of 5 people in exile in Montgenèvre.

Due to the same reasons, several hundred people have already been injured and the security tone keep rising up and up. Last November 16, the number of police officers in Montgenèvre was doubled, with the reinforcement of the so-called ”Sentinelle Force”.

With such decisions, French Government desperately tries to make people believe that a fortress Europe is possible and worths more than human lives.

The thousands dead bodies at the borders of Europe, the violence and the denial of rights along the european countries' internal borders do not seem to bother it.

For us, SOLIDARITY CITIZENS, repeating tirelessly this deadly scenario at the Briançon’s border is not acceptable. 

The militarization of our mountains is a French State vain gesture leading people in exile to take more and more risks.

Let’s make these trials a new opportunity to highlight repression, injustice and the invisibilized violence exercised every day on people in exile.

We call on citizens, associations, institutions, elected officials and communities to support our fight for solidarity and, at last,  to stop the prosecution of volunteers, associations and defenders of rights.
