We are concerned that by shutting boarding the ethos and traditions of the school will be destroyed. A large part of the cultural diversity that exists within the school will also be gone. The boarders are very much at the heart of the school and what makes Manwood’s such a special place - more than just a school, it is a community. A place that is a privilege to attend.

The head’s welcome message on the school’s own website says: “There are boarding facilities for both boys and girls at Manwood’s and their presence helps to create the particular family ethos and palpable sense of community that exists here.” This should be protected.

Friends of Manwood’s Boarding contend that at a minimum boarding at Sir Roger Manwood’s School should be kept open next year using the boarding reserves. That will allow for adequate time for alternative funding options to be sought as necessary. The current 12-week consultation is not adequate and the closure of boarding is not a fait accompli.
