France drops Shooting Sports for Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The French Organizing Committee for the Olympic & Paralympic Games (COJO) prepares the building of a temporary shooting range in Le Bourget to host Paris 2024 OG. This disposable infrastructure will cost more than a permanent shooting range and will be destroyed immediately after the Games.

However, an alternative exists.

Presented by the French Shooting Sports Federation (FFTir), a long-term project, technically and financially realistic, fully meets the requirements of the International Olympic Committee. It would have allowed this future infrastructure to have a second life by welcoming a Shooting Association and new practicing members. Rejected by the Committee, this project was developed on the initiative of the AST Roissy Shooting Association, which was planning to move to grow.

The alternative solution of a sustainable shooting range, proposed by AST Roissy Shooting Association, is fully supported by the Ile-de-France Shooting League, by the French Shooting Sports Federation and the International Shooting Sports Federation. This shooting range, reusable for a large part (Installations necessary for the sustainability of the site : 10/25/ 50 m ranges), could be constructed in the city of Saint Witz (Val d'Oise state).

Drawing on their experience in building and organizing, a team of specialists has developed a well-balanced and credible project, the cost of which would be substantially equal to that of the considered disposable infrastructure in Le BOURGET. The AST Roissy Shooting Association, benefiting from decades of experience in healthy shooting range management, would ensure the profitability and sustainability of the range.

We have to keep in mind that the lack of infrastructure for shooting sports is so important in France that we have to reject thousands of people each year. While a new shooting range near Paris would help to the development of our sport, would benefit sport shooters as well as Federal Administrations (Police, Custom …).

A structural heritage of the Olympic Games, to transmit a social heritage with its values and to shine the image of the shooting sports.

The French Organizing Committee for the Olympic & Paralympic Games, which commits French citizen money, prefers to waste more money on building a shooting range that will be destroyed rather than to trust specialists and experts in our sports in terms of construction and management.

All together, let's support this long term project and not a disposable project. It will condition the evolution of our sports in France for the years to come.

Let us call on the Sports Ministry, the concerned elected officials, local officials, the Ile-de-France region, to defend with us the Shooting sports and these values. Sports always providing medals for France, sports in constant renewal, sports widely accessible to people with disabilities, sports really for all, whatever their age, gender and physical condition.

For the construction of a sustainable shooting range for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games,

I COMMIT and I SUPPORT SHOOTING SPORTS
