Why this petition matters

Started by Becky Biddick

Following reading this article about a young girl in the UK fighting to end plastic waste that comes with magazines, I decided to start this petition.

Magazines are often covered with plastic film and toys which have single use only which are then tossed out. It seems the majority of this waste is cheap toys attached to children’s magazines. These items attached or inside are usually poorly made which have not much use past one play and then they break to then be thrown in the bin. Growing to our global plastic waste problem. The items are so poorly made it’s shocking, sometimes broken before using.

I recently bought a magazine for the sake of a poster and the item inside was broken before it could be used (which was a plastic toy phone) The other items I’ve got in the past are often very badly made products which would serve little use. Even the paper is of poor quality as well. My local bookstore has a big container full of these plastic toys/gifts
