Keep Girls Academy in schools and communities!
Keep Girls Academy in schools and communities!
Why this petition matters
Girls Academy is no more. Just days before Christmas, the Federal Government, through the National Indigenous Australians Agency, informed us we were unsuccessful in our grant tender to fund the program for the next three years.
As of December 31, Australia’s leading in-school mentoring program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls will no longer have the funding to continue. We will not be returning to schools at the end of January to deliver our program. A program that has been changing lives since 2004, with more than 11,000 alumni now giving back to their communities. A program that supports almost 3000 students at 46 schools around the country, and almost 400 graduates through their first two years after school. A program that is community led and that was only recently awarded QIC accreditation, the gold standard for not-for-profit organisations.
Our girls need this program.
Help us petition to reverse the NIAA decision and keep Girls Academy in operation!
