I am setting up this petition to ask the Council to put up a wildlife crossing sign on Muller Road.

Ever since Lockdown started I have been following the wildlife in my local area and have been lucky enough to see fox cubs, badgers, deer, squirrels, hedgehogs ect.  Being able to watch these animals has really helped me through this difficult period and managed to make me feel less alone in a time where we have been less connected with friends and family.  I truly believe that Nature can help us with our mental and physical health and this is why I am passionate about making our cities safer for wildlife.

I have noticed that they all use one part of muller road to cross over to get to Pur Down which is a rich habitat full of food and shelter.  Before lockdown I noticed that many foxes had been killed on this road and during Lockdown with less cars the casualties reduced but didn’t completely stop.

All this wildlife is a benefit for residents.  Exposure to nature is great for our busy, technology-addled brains, research shows.  People in general, like the idea that they have wildlife in their city.

But animals don’t follow zoning or park boundaries, and trouble comes when they leave green spaces: Birds swoop into traffic, deer cross between urban parks, and animals like foxes and badgers follow green trails into cities that are divided by roads.

Luckily there are solutions to create safer ways for animals to cross roads.  We just need to make people aware of the issue and raise money to pay for Green Wildlife Crossing Bridges, Wildlife crossing signs, Wildlife crossing Tunnels.

To start with I am focusing on Wildlife Crossing Signs as this is the easiest and cheapest option.
