This petition is to stop making kids inappropriately take care of bunnies in 4-H and the FFA. This also deals with the ARBA. (American Rabbit Breeders Association) First of all dealing with bunnies in general within those 2 clubs is forcing bunnies to do things they don’t want to. Especially because they are prey animals. The main thing that is wrong with this is for “showing” they require kids to hold their bunnies on their backs, which as some of you know is trancing and your bunny is forced to be in a very stressful state when this happens. And it is them “playing dead” to try to avoid predators. Trancing a rabbit can be potentially harmful for the rabbit. So for people to force a bunny to do this just to get an award is wrong. Their are many other things wrong with those clubs involving bunnies, including little kids not holding them correctly. Also the process of kids trying to hold bunnies on their backs in those clubs means picking them up by the “scruff” which is right behind the ears and barely supporting their bottom so as you can imagine a prey animal would get very scared from this. If they don’t do it that way they don’t do it “correctly” for the show standards and won’t get a chance for an award. Although this petition isn’t about the cages they are kept in at shows I would still like to address it because they are VERY small. Please sign this petition to try to persuade those clubs to stop making kids trance their bunnies!
