We, the undersigned, wish to file a complaint about the actions recently taken by the State of Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Fish and Wildlife Division to deny a camp ground expansion request of Ted Craig, the current lake manager at the Chambers County Lake. 

     Denial of the expansion request will result in loss of revenues to the lake manager that would be sufficient to keep the lake open. Without this added income, the manager can not generate adequate funds to cover expenses. Expansion of the number of campsites will cost the state nothing because the requested sites are already cleared. The lake manager relayed to the Department of Conservation that he will depart August 30, 2020. However, the lake manager indicated that if the campsite expansion is approved, he would remain at the lake. Resolution of the complaint is extremely time sensitive. 

    As a secondary issue, the lake manager on several occasions has been told that upon his departure the Department of Conservation intends to close and drain the lake. Keeping the lake manager will, at a minimum, allow the Chambers County citizens and other communities to use the lake through at least February 2023.
