Make National Cuban Sandwich Day an official Federal Holiday
Why this petition matters
We Americans need more flavor in our lives, and can use another day off from work to enjoy food and family. Let's call upon Congress to make August 23rd officially National Cuban Sandwich Day.
Background: In 2016, reporter Christopher Spata at the Tampa Bay Times literally made up National Cuban Sandwich Day and issued a press release about the delicious pressed amalgamation of crunchy bread, meats, cheese, pickles and mustard. The story got picked up all over the U.S., and people embraced the idea, creating what is now considered one of the most celebrated "food holidays" on the planet.
It’s time to make it official! Please sign the petition to call upon Congress to make August 23rd, National Cuban Sandwich Day, an official federal holiday in the U.S. that celebrates one of the Cuban people's most delicious culinary contributions to the American food scene.
