Please join us in our call to the state's 2020 legislative session to allocate funds to help cool Kaiser Complex!

In 2016, the Hawaii state legislature appropriated $100 million for cooling 1000 classrooms. That money has since been depleted for various reasons and we want answers.

As of 2018, 1300 classrooms have AC installed and to this date, Kaiser Complex schools have not benefited from Governor Ige's "Cool Classrooms" initiative. We still do not have ACs in our classrooms where teachers and students are engaged in learning. And we have been told by some of our school administrators and area lawmakers that we are very low on the priority list--reasons being that our district is perceived as socioeconomically advantaged and other school districts are hotter.  When it comes to cooling classrooms, let's ask for equal treatment of all public school children and teachers across the island! It is hot here too!  

As happy as we are for other schools who have received needed cooling, it is time to bring relief to our children and teachers in the Kaiser Complex.

Sign the petition to let HIDOE know we want them to upgrade the outdated electrical supply and infrastructure of our schools. Sign the petition to show the state legislature that Kaiser Complex feels neglected on this cooling issue and would like to seek funding for ACs to create a more comfortable and engaged learning environment for our leaders of tomorrow.

On Thursday, October 3rd at 10 am, a community of Koko Head Elementary School parents will be meeting with Representative Gene Ward and Councilman Tommy Waters at the Capitol (room 325) to further discuss this issue. If you are interested in coming, please do! The bigger the crowd, the better. We plan on integrating this petition with our slideshow to drive home the message that families of Kaiser Complex schools are serious about this issue and we want results!
