Under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, it states any animal that is commonly domesticated in the U.K. is ‘protected’.  It is protected from mutilation, docking of tails, administering of poison, fighting etc.  

Under the Theft Act 1968, animals that are belonging to another, ‘property’ are protected from theft.

However, there is no law that covers killing and eating of a cat or a dog.

It is not illegal to kill or eat a dog or a cat in the U.K.  In August, 2018 a BBC website quoted that Mrs May had stated that ‘Britain is a nation of animal lovers and we continue to have some of the highest animal welfare standards in the world’.

We beg to differ.  We are not China or Korea!

In America, they took the decision to introduce a bill that prohibits persons from knowingly slaughtering a dog or cat for human consumption.  In addition, the bill prohibits persons from knowingly transporting, possessing, buying, selling or donating

(1) a dog or cat to be slaughtered for human consumption

(2) a dog or cat parts for human consumption.

We would go so far as to add to points 1 and 2 for any use in manufacturing, selling, producing or the use of in any food or material product.

A ban on human consumption of dog meat was passed in the US following Germany, Austria, South Australia, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Why are we behind the times?  Why are we not protecting our beloved pets and any other animal, in fact?  Anyone today, could quite easily purchase a cat or dog and go home kill it and eat it and the law is on their side.  They could even serve it up to you!

Please join us in our campaign to make Government sit up and protect our beloved pets!  Insert into Animal Welfare Act 2006, it is illegal to eat, cook, prepare, consume, slaughter a cat/s or dog/s for human consumption.  It is illegal to use cats, dogs and any young of said animals for the manufacturing of goods, to sell or use in any food or material product, in any way whatsoever, for the use of human and animal consumption.
