Cuties, premiering September 9, 2020, as described by Netflix, Inc., -"Amy, 11, becomes fascinated with a twerking dance crew. Hoping to join them, she starts to explore her femininity, defying her family's traditions."

Exert from Rotten Tomatoes description- "Amy, through an ignited awareness of her burgeoning femininity, propels the group to enthusiastically embrace an increasingly sensual dance routine."

This mere description invokes great concern in regards to the message of this movie; minors fascinated with sexual dancing and somehow this sexual dance is linked to her exploring femininity? This is not okay, this is not healthy to depict children of such a young age being apart of something so overtly sexual. Not only is this seemingly pushing a particular MAP(minor attracted persons/pedophiles) related message, but also sexualizes women by equating said dance to an exploration of femininity. If the description isn't bad enough to make you question this, check out the picture they're using for the movie in this link. Young girls posing in overtly sexual positions, with lots of make up, and on top of that then photo-shopped to appear more sexualized and to give them the appearance of young women as opposed to little girls. Disgusting.

It is the duty of all adults to protect children. I believe Netflix putting out such a movie not only normalizes the sexualization of children and likely objectifies women as a whole in the process, but this film will likely bring lifelong heartache, abuse, and harassment to the four girls depicted in the photo as their debut into media is serving them up as lambs for the slaughter, and media loves to take advantage of children, particularly young girls.

If you want to put a stop to the sexualisation of children, sign the petition. We cannot idly sit by and watch as media treads closer and closer to the line of pedophilia normalization. Netflix needs to stop this movie from premiering, and if by the time this petition gets speed it's already premiered, they need to remove it from their library!
