Petition calling on Kate Forbes to end cuts to East Lothian Council's funding.

East Lothian Council has made savings of £34m over the past six years. As one of the fastest growing Councils in Scotland with rising demand for local services, we cannot make any further cuts to our budget without it having an impact on services. The most recent budget set by Scottish Government means further cuts of £16m. This is now a wholly unacceptable and unsustainable position for the Council to be placed in. We want the Scottish Government to end their austerity cuts and fund East Lothian Council fairly.

We call on Kate Forbes to ensure vital local services in East Lothian are protected by:

• Stopping the funding cuts & funding us fairly to provide local public services,
• Fully funding all pay & pension increases; and
• Fully funding all new policies and legislation impacting on councils.
