Why this petition matters

Started by PRN Highway Team

To preserve the legacy of the musical genius, Prince, we are proposing a name change of a stretch of Highway 5 from Eden Prairie to Chanhassen to Prince Rogers Nelson Memorial Highway.  Prince was a long-time resident of Chanhassen who had a positive impact on the local community and worldwide.  We believe renaming a small stretch of this highway would serve to pay tribute to Prince by honoring his life and legacy.

Chanhassen City Council has voted in favor of this name change.  We now require the approval of the State Legislature to move forward with this proposal.  As many of you may or may not know, there is a stretch of Highway 5 that is designated in honor of August Mueller, who served in the Minnesota State Legislature for 30+ years.   Currently, Augie Mueller Memorial Highway starts at the intersection of Highway 101 and Highway 5 in Chanhassen and runs approximately 50 miles to Gaylord.   With great respect to the family of August Mueller, we are hopeful that we can come to an agreement to have the 2-3 miles from Highway 101 to Audubon or Galpin to be designated to Prince Rogers Nelson Memorial Highway.

We are seeking support from all those who loved Prince and would like to see his legacy live on.
