Why this petition matters
The paper and pulp industry in Dryden, Ontario, which began in the early 1900s, resulted in serious environmental issues through the dumping of mercury by a paper mill into local waters.
The location of the case is in Asubpeeschoseewagong, Canada. Azraya’s parents, Christa Ackabee and Marlin Kokopenace had arrived with a small group that walked through the streets of Kenora to remember Azraya who was dead and to find out the problem of the dumping by a paper mill.
The place has been contaminated with harmful chemicals because the factory's waste product, mercury. The rivers were seriously contaminated so the people who drank the water of the river, or people who ate fish in the river began to be poisoned to mercury. This is destroying their bodies, cultures and freedoms. The culture which has been kept for centuries is being lost! The factory's wastewater that is pumping out mercury is destroying everything in few decades.
Let’s protect lives being addicted to mercury. Mercury addiction can happen in every country, every place we live. The victims of mercury can be you, or me, and everyone else in this world. We can mediate this if we work together! Support us from signing your signitures on this petition. WE CAN DO THIS!
