Build a Pump Track & Mountain Bike Skills Area in Pacific Spirit Regional Park
Build a Pump Track & Mountain Bike Skills Area in Pacific Spirit Regional Park
Why this petition matters
Mountain biking is a fast growing, fun & healthy recreational activity. It gets people outdoors, away from screens & active & exercising.
A Pump Track is a circuit of rollers, banked turns & features designed for BMX & mountain bikes. A pump track & skills area would cater to people of all ages, skill levels & backgrounds.
Pacific Spirit Regional Park is 2160 acres in size & currently has 37.1kms of biking trails, however there are no specific mountain biking features. Our goal is to take just a couple of small trail sections & add in a few wooden features as well to find an under-utilised area of the park & build a pump track approximately the size of 2 tennis courts.
The implementation would aim to be both environmentally & aesthetically pleasing & to not interfere significantly with other park users. Currently kids are creating their own unsanctioned jumps in the park which poses both a safety risk & a risk of destruction to park fauna & flora. A professionally built & maintained area would keep everyone safe, happy & healthy.
