Why this petition matters

Started by Matthew Smith

The The Marijuana Justice Act of 2017 is a bill introduced to the current 115th Congress on August 1st, 2017. Since then it has not moved forward in becoming a law. Introduced by Democrat Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey, this bill has also gained 6 cosponsors, including Democrat Senator Bernie Sanders.

If the bill comes into effect, Marijuana would be legal, decriminalized across the entire nation, and those incarcerated with federal marijuana charges will be granted the process of expungement.

31 states legalized medical marijuana use, and 9 states including the District of Columbia have legalized recreational marijuana use. States that have decriminalize marijuana have seen positive health, and economic effects. Tax revenue has increased, and less spending is done on arresting and detaining those who are convicted of related crimes. Marijuana also provides numerous medical benefits and medical use of marijuana would be easier to attain.

If you support the legalization of Marijuana and this bill, I encourage you to sign this petition. Write to your local government to alert them that this bill is important to be passed. Share this petition with your contacts on social media, and start the conversation. Let’s show the government how many Americans support this cause! Be the change you want to see in the world.
