Albuquerque Transit Equity Day
Albuquerque Transit Equity Day
Why this petition matters
This February 4 marks the birthday of Rosa Parks, a community organizer who stood up for civic rights and transit equity in Montgomery, Alabama in 1955. I want to thank you and Albuquerque's efforts towards equity in our city including transit equity where people who are transit dependent get what they need.
I join Together for Brothers (T4B) and other community partners organizing for transit equity on 2021 Transit Equity Day to (1) thank you for making permanent free bus fares for youth 18 years old and younger and I am also asking you to (2) commit to adding youth 19-24 years old and seniors 65 years old and older to fare free buses (and ideally all bus riders) and (3) increase access and opportunities for youth and their families, especially low income youth and youth of color, to the city’s parks, open spaces and other spaces including with information in multiple languages.
Buses and public transportation are key to health equity and other outcomes for transit dependent communities in Albuquerque!
