Plastic straws are known to cause harm to animals and the environment. They degrade very slowly and each straw can take around 200 years to degrade. There are so many other options for people who still want to use straws, like metal, glass, and paper. Straws are not a necessity to have at every meal for most people (I know that there are people who require them.), and we shouldn't be using them as a luxury item unless we take the time to get a reusable one.

Some straws get put in recycling bins but only a fraction of those actually get recycled. I have noticed a lot of restaurants here still give out plastic straws, you actually have to ask them NOT to give you one, because they don't even ask. All I know is, I want the world to remain a beautiful place for generations to come, and that isn't going to happen if things keep going like this.

Did you know that straws are finding their way into oceans and killing endangered species of sea life? There is a lot of plastic in the ocean and lots of that is plastic straws and plastic bags. It is OUR responsibility to take action and change our habits for the good, imagine how much cleaner the earth would be if even one state more decided to ban plastic straws. That's over 2 million people, and if 2 million people eat at a restaurant once a week, that's 100,000,000 straws we could reduce.

So please, don't just ignore my words because (the earth can take care of itself), because the Earth can take care of itself, but plastic isn't a natural thing, and if we were not here, the Earth would not be in this state.
