In 2005, Adobe bought Macromedia, the company responsible for Macromedia Flash, also known as Adobe Flash and Animate CC.

Flash was one of the most popular applications for web development. As the years went on, Flash was abandoned. Flash Player is no longer necessary to install on web browsers. It's no longer used in interactive sites, banner ads, or video players. Despite this, Flash is still used by countless animators. It's easy to learn, making it perfect for beginners but is still used by many professionals.

I am asking Adobe, who owns the copyright on Flash, to release legacy versions of the software for sale at a reduced price.

The only available version of this software is Animate CC, a subscription-based version that expires if you stop paying. Animate CC costs $20 a month, this isn't acceptable for young students and low income artists. When I was a teacher, teaching Flash animation to children, parents would ask me where they could get the software and I didn't have an answer for them. We used CS3, a stable and popular iteration of the program, which was also the first version that adopted the name Adobe Flash. Versions like Flash MX, Flash 8, Flash CS3, and Flash CS6 are all still used today, and yet there is no legitimate way to get them. They are easy to pirate, but if I told parents to do that, they'd be breaking the law and could accidentally download a virus.

In my opinion, these versions need a digital re-release. The Creative Cloud is good for people who need the current version, but this is not for everyone. Adobe should sell licenses of their old software for under $100. CC prices are fair for professionals, but not for beginners who also need to pay for computers, tablets, and educational resources.
