Facebook will not allow the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police to boost promotion of its Officer of the Year, the heroic Patrolman Jeffrey Bieber of the East Peoria PD. Facebook evidently believes that honoring a great police officer violates its advertising policy. "Your ad may have been rejected because it mentions politicians or is about sensitive social issues that could influence public opinion, how people vote and may impact the outcome of an election or pending legislation," Facebook said. Huh? Our press release did not mention any politicians or make reference to any election. It did say, correctly, that police officers are subjected to physical and verbal abuse every day on the street, one reason that Bieber is our Officer of the Year. Sign this petition to encourage Facebook to reverse its decision and allow the ad to help more people see the post.
