Why this petition matters

Started by Janey Little

In a time of crisis, the voices of young people are not being listened to.

The UK government have agreed to take questions from the public in their daily COVID-19 briefings, but in order to submit a question, you must be over the age of 18.

Young people have their own concerns, including their education, home life, mental health, individual needs, their futures, and more.

I am in year twelve, and I, just as much as any adult, have a right to be listened to. I can join the army and die for my country but I cannot even ask the government a question. This crisis affects everyone- including children and young people- and our concerns must be heard and taken on board. The current requirement is exclusionary and disrespectful to the young people who are fighting this battle alongside the adults.

Let's change this and stand up for the under 18s who matter as much as anyone else in these difficult times.
