My Daughter was due to marry on 21 March 2020, but with 36 hours to go to the event Covid-19 put the brakes on the event happening, we were able to reschedule for April 2021, however, we have now received an email from the hotel to say the hotel has been sold and will not continue as a hotel so our celebration has been cancelled. To rub salt into the wound, they have also stated any payment(s) would not be refunded and we had obviously paid in full as we were so near to the event happening. I feel all monies paid for such events should be put into a holding account until the event has taken place to allow refunds be made in such circumstances. The hotel has told us to seek refunds through wedding insurance or credit card providers. Travel companies have to put deposits into holding accounts, why should other providers be any different. All the deposits from all the families should be refunded, they haven't gone into administration or receivership, so why can't they refund everyone? Let's prevent any other family being in the same position.
