On the evening of November 9, 2020, an elderly township resident Joseph Hoffman who is legally blind testified that he and his spouse were duped and misrepresented when his wife "mistakenly" agreed to sign-up for a solar lease back in 2017 to allow project transmission line only. With a solar gag order in place, Mr. Hoffman's spouse is unable to legally comment.
Their 80 acre land-preserved farm will now be surrounded on 5 sides with 12' high panels and barbed wire fence, but reportedly Open Roads Renewables stated this project would only be one small farm behind them on California Road with "No" solar panel visibility.
With no idea of the Brookview scope and scale of this project, until January 2020, both township residents and even some landowner(s) with solar leases were kept in the dark and no longer much "joy" in Mt Joy Twp.
