Initial reports on Twitter have disclosed that The Guardian are cutting 12% of staff positions, and a knock-on effect is that The Saturday Guardian supplements - Weekend, Review, The Guide and Travel - are to be closed.

I am sure for thousands/millions of people, The Guardian has been a lifeline over these last months, and the paper form of The Saturday Guardian in particular is *an institution* of many years standing. Weekend magazine is my favourite magazine, ever. It is a great mix of columns, cartoons, gorgeous long-form journalism and photography. Review, The Guide, Travel and Feast make equally blissful diversions, and it's the cultural content that has made me a loyal reader of The Guardian. I read The Guardian for the Saturday Guardian. I read it for the Saturday Guardian supplements!
