There are thousands of BTEC Students in the UK who are feeling 'that they have been forgotten about.' while some are still awaiting their results. With the governments and Ofqual's recent announcement that there will be a U-Turn for A-Level and GCSE Results, to go back to teacher assessed/predicted grades, alongside the statement confirmed by Roger Taylor, who is the head of Exams Regulator Ofqual, that ' the change does not apply to BTEC Exam Results' has left many BTEC students feeling frustrated and abandoned. The aim of this petition is to get BTEC's, particularly Level 3 BTEC's included in the U-Turn, to restore their grades, sense of justice, and self-worth as well as futures while protecting their mental health and wellbeing from the devastation of fearing to be left out in this U-Turn. This petition is our chance as BTEC Students to be heard clearly and loudly by the Public, Government, and Awarding Bodies. 

As mentioned above, as it currently stands BTEC Results are not included in the U-Turn. This in itself is a further injustice and unfairness to the many students who's BTEC Results have also been affected by the Covid-19 Pandemic and algorithm used. This makes me, likely amongst other students, question why we are not being given the fairness and justice we deserve as much as GCSE and A-Level Students. Including the thought of whether the Government and Awarding Bodies have really thought this through as they must realise that they are putting BTEC students now through the same anxiety, stress, uncertainty, and sense of injustice as we have seen and experienced in the past days. 

Some might be asking themselves, pondering over the recent news, why is this happening? Are we (BTEC Students) less worth than our A-Level and GCSE counterparts? I would just like to point out and remind you that we have been working just as hard as them, our BTEC courses consist of exams, coursework/assignments, life projects, and work experience.  Including the fact that for instance (like many other Level 3 BTEC Courses) my Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Business is equivalent to 3 A-Levels!

The belief and concern voiced by many people are that if the Government and Regulator announce and do a U-Turn for GCSE and A-levels then the same should be applied to BTEC, you can't restore some students results and leave the other students out, that's not fair, and it's grossly unjust. This whole results 'fiasco' has been and continues to be extremely stressful and causes so many students to question the system, their worth, and gambles with students' trust, futures, livelihoods, and mental health, to mention a few key points as heard from students and others in the past days. From my personal experience, I can confess this gut-wrenching and unfair situation is making me sleepless, it is all-consuming - thus, affecting all parts of my life, and I am sure this has been the case for thousands of students and now continues for BTEC students. This isn't right and it needs to and must be addressed!

Please, support us achieve fairness, justice, and restored results for BTEC students and their exam results which they have worked tirelessly for two years like thousands of other students, to be included in the U-Turn announced by the government on A-Level and GCSE Results. Let's achieve equality and justice for all students across the board and not leave any BTEC Student(s) behind!
