Fellow Americans: Covid-19 has restricted, limited or completely stopped all deemed Non-Essential businesses from operating under the Shelter in Place order causing many (especially self-employed) business owners, employees of said businesses and or self-contractors to struggle without an income to pay their bills, while their bills keep piling up. Non-Essential business owners still owe rent for any building(s) they’re not allowed to operate at or in per this order and are threatened to be fined up to $10k and or lose their business license if caught working. Very difficult, stressful and sad situation to be in. 
         The Government, State and City have offered us very little help, in which more ways is just a means to accrue more debt. There’s no guarantee that any SBA loans or other will be granted, let alone forgiven. Therefore, if granted/qualified said loans, we will be establishing more debt through these loans and will be less likely to spend dollars back in our communities when this is over if we need to pay off loans and other bills that have stacked up against us during this pandemic. Thus hurting our communities and economy much more.
        My proposal would be for our government to order to freeze all rents & mortgages during and through to the end of this Covid-19 pandemic. The affected banks, landlords and lenders etc. should be ordered to create an addendum to current contracts and help Non-Essentials by deferring unpaid payments to the end of their newly amended contract(s). The banks, landlords and lenders should also be provided a special Covid-19 Tax credit or write off for any total loss of rents or payments due to Covid-19 to guarantee them their money as well. People are more likely to comply with the Shelter in Place order and not risk the spread of this horrific virus if they don’t have to stress or act out of desperation about paying these large bills/contracts while technically being ordered to stay home.
