Justice for Manuel Ellis
Justice for Manuel Ellis
Why this petition matters
Hi, my name is Kyla Watkins, and I’d like to demand justice for Manuel Ellis. He is yet another unarmed black man who was murdered by police three months ago in Tacoma, WA. He died from oxygen deprivation after police physically restrained him. The 33-year-old was heard on a police scanner saying "I can't breathe,” and his death was ruled a homicide. The officers were seen in a video taken by a witness, jumping out of their police car to slam Manuel Ellis to the ground while he’s gasping for air, saying he “can’t breathe.” The mayor has demanded the officers involved be fired and arrested, but as we’ve seen, justice is not always guaranteed. Please sign this petition and DEMAND that justice be served through the firing of the officers involved, as well as their arrests. We must demonstrate our disbelief and our dissatisfaction at the way this was handled.
