Why this petition matters

Started by Lindita Kulla

On October 17th, 2010 a Pace University student Danroy "DJ" Henry Jr. was shot and killed by a police officer off campus. This year is the 10 year anniversary of his passing, to honor DJ's legacy on campus we would like to purpose designating a day to do so. Though his memory has been upheld by various student led organizations, we would like to see the Pace University administration acknowledge    the life loss and affects of police brutality in the community.

By designating a "DJ Day" on October 21st students, faculty and staff would have the opportunity to attend a memorial in DJ's honor. Along with a memorial, we would like to see more programming that discusses ways to be ally’s to the black community and actively educate and fight against racism and bigotry. It is not enough to just honor DJ's memory, instead we must take part in educating ourselves and others.

No student should have to suffer the same fate as DJ, from our campus, to campuses across the nation. #JusticeForDJ #BlackLivesMatter
